About Shannon

RYT, Reiki Master Teacher, Psychotherapist

I came in with seed potential, as we all do. As a young child I was always receptive to Nature, animals, and highly empathic. My yoga practice, I believe, began or reinstated when I decided to be a vegetarian, at about age 5 or 6. My father laughs as he tells our story of my child-self announcing that I was not going to eat anything that pooped.   My active research and interest in nutrition, however, began to develop when I began to practice a vegan lifestyle around age 16. I took my first yoga class around this time too, and my interest, experience, and understanding since continually progressed.  As a healer and intuitive I consciously chose a compassionate and healthy lifestyle that enhances my Be-ing’s ability to channel and better serve my clients and loved ones.

My dual degrees in undergraduate school were Outdoor Experiential Education, and Sustainable Development. My research interests were in Appropriate Technology and Psychology. Some of my most influential life experiences at this time include; service in the Peace Corps, living in conscious communities, and working as a professional outdoor adventure guide, and EMT.  I am excited about conscious community living, vegan food cultivation, and having fun outdoors.

I taught my first yoga classes in college to my friends for fun, and to my outdoor adventure clients while guiding over night adventures. I worked through my 20’s as an EMT and outdoor adventure guide, facilitating safe experiences for people rafting, kayaking, skiing, rock climbing, caving, etc. My sensitivity to the interconnected relationship with Nature increased dramatically during this time.

My first Yoga Teacher trainings began in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008. Most notable was my experiences with David Life and Sharon Gannon and my initiation into the Jivamukti lineage in 2008. I knew after the first time I met David Life and Sharon Gannon that they were to be my yoga teachers and beloved inspirations.

Another of my most influential and beloved yoga teachers is Libbie Mathis. Libbie Mathis personally trained with Krishnamacharya in India, and in the US by John Schumacher, senior Iyengar instructor.

I started teaching yoga professionally in 2005. My experiences in sharing yoga extend beyond the yoga studio scene, as I truly “in-joy” sharing yoga in educational, hospital, corporate, retreat, and personal home settings.

My interests in Reiki started to spark while in Undergraduate school, but my pursuit of Reiki education and certification began during my first years of teaching yoga.

I discovered Marnie Vincolisi, founder of the Light Internal School and became a disciplined student. Over a course of four years I completed my Traditional Usui and Karuna Reiki Master Teacher Certifications.

My love of being a student and clarity for my life’s work and mission inspired my graduate school studies.  I completed my MS in Health Psychology and focused my research on Cognitive-Behavior Change, Mindfulness Theories, Positive Psychology, and Coping techniques for Stress, Chronic diseases, the psychology of disease, and preventative techniques such as meditation, yoga, Reiki, and diet.

Once I completed my graduate degree, and read Dr. Gabriel Cousen’s books Spiritual Nutrition and Conscious Eating, I knew I had to meet this brilliant Doctor, so I packed up my home in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and moved to the The Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center in Patagonia, Arizona. Here my discipline of a raw foods diet and juicing lifestyle began to deepen and thrive. I worked teaching yoga to patients, staff, guests, and cultivating food in the vegan food gardens.  During my abundant time at the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center I observed many miraculous healings and established many life long friendships.

My love for my home in Colorado pulled me back in 2012. Since, I have been sharing yoga, Ayurveda, health coaching, and Reiki in the Denver/Boulder/Fort Collins areas.  I have been most recently researching through working as a psychotherapist in crisis stabilization psychiatric hospitals and adolescent safe houses where I have observed incredible successes with patient stabilization through the sharing of mindfulness based stress reduction techniques such as guided deep breathing, therapeutic yoga, guided visualization meditations, and Reiki.

Thank you to All my teachers. Thank you to my Family and Dear Friends for the experiences, and most profound teachings of unconditional love.

Om shanti, shanti, shantih.
